Ever taken a “selfie”? The latest craze to hit the social networks has been hijacked for what we at Fifteen Design think is a fantastic cause.
Facebook has been swamped with women posting no makeup selfies and nominating their friends to do the same, all in the name of raising awareness for Cancer research. The phenomenon began on Monday and, although it wasn’t initially Cancer Research UK who began the #nomakeupselfie challenge, they are very grateful to whoever did as a whopping £2million has been raised in donations so far!
Unfortunately we all know someone who is fighting this horrible disease or have lost friends and family to Cancer. The no makeup selfies have been used not only to raise money with the text donations but also to remember loved ones by mentioning them in the posts. Arguably the most important result of the campaign has been the huge increase in the number of people who through the awareness raising have been checking for those lumps and bumps that we all hope not to find.
Here at Fifteen Design we are passionate about supporting Cancer Research UK with many of us having experienced first hand the devastation it can cause to a family.
So… Despite the fact that most of won’t open the door without it, us girls whipped off the warpaint and were brave enough to post our no makeup selfies out there to the world! If you dare take a look at ours then do the same but don’t forget that all important donation.
