Helping People & Solving Problems Ellis-Fermor & Negus Get A New Website

February 26, 2016 - Fifteen

Fifteen are pleased to announce the launch of local solicitor firm Ellis-Fermor & Negus (EFN)’s new website.

About Ellis-Fermor & Negus

Ellis-Fermor & Negus are a local solicitor firm based within the East Midlands, they have offices in Beeston, Long Eaton, Belper and Ripley and pride themselves in their local presence and providing services for individuals and companies for generations. The firm have been operating since 1893 and aim to build lifelong relationships with the clients by using their experience and knowledge to assist them in their legal requirements.

The Task

Ellis-Fermor & Negus appraoched Fifteen back in August with the task to re-design and develop their website into a modern and responsive site, that focuses on user journey and that brings to life the essence of the highly experienced team.

The website was to be fully responsive, and utilise the large range of services on offer, and providing emphasis that there are lawyers based at each office who are experienced in the matters to encourage users to pop in or get in touch with them.

Two major requirements for the website was to allow users to Pay Online and for the continued use of a Conveyancing Calculator which was a feature on their previous website.

The Design

Keeping a focus on modern web design techniques, but trying to keep the site simple, familiar and user-friendly was important for both Fifteen and EFN. The site needed to be timeless and clean, creating a professional and approachable look and feel for their users.

Using their existing brand colour-scheme and introducing a subtle orange complimentary colour brings the website to life, adding warmth and depth to the site where its needed.

The use of local photography throughout the site allows the user to notice familiar places that they may have visited or passed within the East Midlands, as well as a mixture of well placed and thought out stock photography to demonstrate the range of services on offer.

The Development

The development of the site is both cutting edge, and uses best web practice and technique. We gave the site a restructure and streamlined a number of pages within the sitemap to be included within one page and relevant sub-pages. The website is fully responsive, uses a range of simple and effective CSS tricks for hover effects within the site that reveal further information and invite users to click through to view more.

Integrating the existing conveyancing calculator into the site was important, as it is a key feature. We implemented this into the site using an iframe which allows the user to stay on the page while completing the information required. Plans for the future are to re-develop the calculator system to be held within the website itself.

Another key element of the build, was the ability for users to pay fees online, EFN use WorldPay as their payment gateway, and as a WorldPay parter we have the experience and knowledge to implement this into their system.

Who Worked on the Project?

katethumb3Kate Crowther – Client Services Director
Kate worked alongside the client in the initial stages, understanding the project scope and objectives to produce a quote and build the initial relationship. With a degree in Law, Kate was able to understand the specific legal requirements needed for the website, and scope out the project in line with this experience.

SophiethumbSophie Kish – Digital Producer
Sophie worked alongside Kate to build the initial relationship with the client. Leading the project in-house, working with the design team and development team and communicating with the client on a regular basis, Sophie saw the project through to completion.

Lucy Goodwin – Designer
Lucy’s keen eye for functional design and experience in user-journey and UX allowed her to develop a number of concepts for the client, and produce this clean and modern website, which will stand the test of time.

pavthumbPavan Samra – Lead Developer
Pavan took Lucy’s designs and developed them into a fully functioning responsive website, taking into account different user-journeys and making the content management system easy for the admin to use. Being the lead developer on the project, Pavan worked with other members of the development team to integrate systems into the website, and launch the project on completion.

Alex Walker – Web Developer
Alex’s experience with WorldPay and integrating payment gateways allowed him to fully integrate the Pay Online system into the website. Working alongside Pavan on styling of the form, and testing the website’s functionality meant that every element of the website was tested fully before launch.

Mikey Burton – Web Developer
Mikey’s experience working with the system that Ellis-Fermor’s Conveyancing Calculator was built within made him the best man for integrating the system into the new website. Mikey worked alongside Pavan to ensure that the system was fully integrated and function.

Adam Richmond – SEO
Adam performed the onsite optimisation of the website, focussing on key words and phrases that users might type into the Google to encourage the website to be found. He did an amount of research into these keywords to ensure that they are both relevant and useful for the client and the user with the aim to help drive people to the website.

The Results

Well, we have a very happy client, and someone who we are looking forward to continue to work with and develop our relationship with. We can’t wait to see how the website performs for them, and watch as their business continues to grow.
