We’ve just had news that the charity website we launched for the Imran Khan Cancer Appeal (IKCA) in 2015 has been announced as a nominee in the ‘Charities’ category at this year’s Website of the Year awards. As the website was voted runner-up in last year’s competition, it has received an automatic nomination in the same category this year.
This year sees the Website of the Year Awards enter their 12th year and it is set to be the biggest yet. The Website of the Year Award is an online people’s choice for the best and most popular websites out there. The voting system is international, spanning seven countries, UK, Spain, The Netherlands, Italy, India, Germany and France. More than 100,000 consumers took part in voting for the ‘Website of the Year’ in 2015.
In last year’s competition, the IKCA website was voted in second place for ‘Most Popular Charity Website’, piped to the post by the National Migraine Centre. The IKCA website fought off stiff competition from large, well-known charities including the RSPCA, Oxfam, Cancer Research UK, MacMillan, NSPCC, RSPB, UNICEF and JustGiving.
The IKCA website received a total of 747 public votes, 13% of the total number of category votes of 5686 to achieve the runner up spot. It also received 4.8/5 for Design, 4.8/5 for Content, 4.7/5 for Navigation and 9.4/10 for recommendation in the public vote.
The awards will soon announce the full list of nominees for this year’s Website of the Year award on their website. After which, we will once again be rallying your support to vote for the IKCA website again this year. But it’s not just the website that could win a prize. The awards offer prizes to consumers who vote, each of which will be entered into a prize draw to win an iPad Pro, a SONOS PLAY:5 and Amazon Gift Cards.
The public vote will run from the 3rd October until 11th November 2016. Voting will take place via the Website of the Year Awards website: www.websiteoftheyear.co.uk
We’ve also submitted a few wildcards into the mix for several other categories in the competition, so fingers crossed we will get some success with these entries too. Wildcard entries require a minimum of 5000 unique visitors and must sit within one of the 19 industry categories.
The full list of nominees will be announced later in September, keep checking back here for updates on our progress.
