4 simple ways to promote your blog on social media

May 16, 2023

When you’ve put time and effort into writing a blog post, the last thing you want is it sitting on your website, never to be seen or known about. Promoting your blog is vital and social media is an integral part in driving traffic towards your blog and increasing your regular readership. So what can you be doing to link your blog posts into your social media strategy?

Here are 4 simple ways your brand can be promoting your blogs on your social media channels.

1. Schedule social media posts

The first thing you want to be doing when you’ve published your blog, is to begin promoting it on your brand’s social media channels by scheduling social media posts. It’s probably something you’re already doing, but ensuring you get certain elements right can help towards your efforts.

For example, you want to make sure you’re promoting your blogs consistently across all of your social channels. The more channels you utilise, and the more frequent you post, the more you’ll drive people to your website to read your blog.

You’ll also want to be mindful of the times you schedule your social posts. If you use scheduling tools like Hootsuite for example, it will give you recommended times to post, so be sure to go with these for maximum exposure.

And it goes without saying that you should make your social post as visually appealing as possible. This means including an image that grabs your audience’s attention and writing your post content that entices them to read your blog. Be sure to include relevant hashtags too, to further enhance your posts reach.

2. Include links for readers to share

By integrating links into your blog so your readers can share your content, essentially allows your audience to help you promote your blogs across their social media. You want to be able to provide your readers with easy ways for them to share your blog with their friends, family and followers, so consider including button share links at the bottom of your blog.

A good example would be the share links at the bottom of this blog. You can see we’ve included buttons for readers to share this blog on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ if they wish. You can include as many share options as you like, but be mindful that too many button links can look a little cluttered, so you may want to keep the number of share links to a minimum.

3. Get involved with blog discussions

There are all sorts of blog chats and discussions on social media, particularly on Twitter, as these chats are monitored through hashtags. These are great opportunities to take time and talk to your readers, check out other brand blogs and focus on promoting your own blog posts.

If your brand is industry specific, there are still plenty of chats and discussions you can get involved with. Do some research and don’t be afraid to get involved with these discussions because it shows your brand is invested in your audience’s opinions. It may even give you some inspiration for new content pieces you could focus on.

4. Build relationships with other bloggers

Off the back of getting involved with blog chats and discussions, you could start to build relationships with other bloggers that are relevant to your brand and industry. You can also do this by simply reading and sharing other blogs you like, and don’t forget to tag and mention them in your social posts. You’ll be surprised how much this will be appreciated and reciprocated, with the favour will be returned by sharing your blogs.

Another great way to achieve this is through guest blogging. Consider inviting other bloggers in your industry to write content for you and vice versa. Not only will this help you gain backlinks for your site, but it also gives you an opportunity to be featured on other bloggers’ social media channels, thus increasing your reach.
