Brochure Design for Elfed High School

February 28, 2014

After having worked with Elfed High School to develop their brand with a new school prospectus and improve their online presence with the design of their new website, we have been a continuing support to their proactive marketing exercises.

Rosemary Jones, Headteacher of Elfed High School, is always very keen to improve communications to both parents and students. Elfed School had two particular projects in mind that needed improvement: a transition guide from Primary to Secondary School for parents and an options guide for Key Stage 4 students. Both are booklets that are distributed by the school and needed to be refreshed and an extension of the Elfed brand.

Smooth Moves Brochure Design

We started with the transition brochure design for ‘Smooth Moves’. The purpose of this brochure is to give parents helpful tips and advice on preparing their child for starting secondary school. This brochure is a joint initiative with the Council who distribute the brochure throughout the County.

After creating a brochure design for the Elfed version, the council loved it so much that we went on to create a generic Council branded version that can be easily editable to include changing school information.

The brochure was written 50% in English and 50% in Welsh with a reverse design to separate the two texts. The end result is a bright and vibrant guide for parents that is easy to digest and understand giving comfort and peace of mind to parents.

The second brochure we created was a guide for Elfed High School students about to make their study options for Years 10 and 11. These are the subject choices that they will study for their GCSE and Vocational qualifications and so it was of great importance that the booklet explained in detail the selection process and what each subject had to offer.

The brochure design included lovely imagery of school pupils and the different activities and events that the forthcoming years would see them experiencing. These accompanied by short subject summaries, colourful simple charts and information tables make the content easy and clear for students to understand.

We’ve had great feedback from the school and Council about the design of the booklets and look forward to working with Elfed High School again soon.
