Paid Search: Is Google Maps a New Goldmine?

June 14, 2016

As mobile search continues to evolve, Google has risen to the challenge.

Late last month the technology giant unveiled updates to its location based searches, which includes serving local adverts in Google Maps.

One such feature is a ‘prompted pin’ – a tailored advert pushed to consumers using Google Maps in the vicinity of your business.

So how can you optimise this for your business?

  • If your company has a store-front, use it to your advantage. A picture has much more impact on users, and will allow them to recognise your store with ease.
  • If you have a specific in-store sale, this feature is perfect. The new format will allow you to list all the deals with your business information.
  • The prompted pin feature can be used to increase footfall to your business, grabbing the attention of passers-by that would otherwise have walked straight by.

To run location based adverts your business will need to be linked to an Adwords account.
