Ramadan for Orphans in Need and IKCA

July 31, 2015

What is Ramadan?

Every year, Muslims across the world celebrate the holy month of Ramadan. This year it began on the 18th June and ended on the evening of the 17th July. This month of fasting is there to help teach Muslims self-discipline, self-restraint, and generosity, all culminating in the Eid al-Fitr. Feasting after the month’s fasting is important, but the Eid is time to give thanks to Allah for providing strength throughout Ramadan and is also a time for forgiveness, self-reflection and charity. Earlier this year we worked with the charities IKCA and Orphans In Need, who both do excellent work in the Islamic community for cancer sufferers and orphans. With their brand new website design we were hoping they would have an incredibly successful Ramadan, so how have they done?

How have Orphans In Need and IKCA done this Ramadan?

Orphans-Responsive

During Ramadan, Orphans In Need’s income went up by approximately 93%, almost doubling the amount they raised for charity this year. This amazing increase has been helped along by the 12% increase in sessions and users, the 21% increase in page views, 15% lower bounce rate, and an average session increase to 7 minutes on the site. An interesting side effect of the new website has been the dramatic increase of mobile sessions, rising to 55% from 31%. This is no doubt due to the new responsive design we provided for the site, making it work perfectly on any device. The improved SEO has allowed Orphans In Need to reach a consistently larger audience than last year! We congratulate Orphans In Need on their success this year and hope that things continue to improve over the next few years!

ikca responsive

IKCA (Imran Khan Cancer Appeal) have seen a 35% increase in donations this year in comparison to 2014, with a 20% increase in the overall amount donated. This comes after their new website received 48,193 page views from over 12,000 users. The new responsive design catered perfectly to users viewing on mobile devices and tablets, which contributed to 40% of their overall site traffic. As with Orphans In Need, we congratulate IKCA on a good year, and hope they are able to raise even more in subsequent years for such a just cause.

How can you help Orphans In Need and IKCA?

The excellent work that Orphans In Need and IKCA do happens all year round, and in spite of the fantastic Ramadan they have had, they still need your help. We’re sure they’d appreciate anything you can give no matter the time of year. If you’d like to make a donation, please visit Orphans In Need or IKCA.
